The program
A simple program, built around a steady rhythm.
Marin House isn't a treatment center, and we don't run a rigid phase system. What we offer is a structured, supportive home and a daily routine that helps recovery take hold.
Most residents come to Marin House after completing detox, and often after inpatient or residential treatment. From there, we encourage everyone to keep building: stay engaged in outpatient care where it's recommended, find a sponsor, and work an established 12-step program. We're a Christian-based home, and faith is welcome here, but the door is open to anyone serious about their recovery.
Instead of formal phases, life here runs on a consistent weekly rhythm. As residents show up for that rhythm and reach sobriety milestones, they earn more freedom and flexibility within the home.
What the week looks like
The specifics are covered in the resident agreement, but the shape of it is straightforward:
Recovery meetings
Residents attend regular 12-step or other recovery support meetings each week (AA, NA, SMART Recovery, or equivalent), with attendance verified by a sponsor or chairperson.
Work, school, or treatment
Within your first month, you're expected to stay actively engaged: full-time work, job searching, school, or an outpatient program.
House meeting & chores
A mandatory weekly house meeting keeps everyone on the same page, and residents share weekly chores and daily upkeep of common areas.
Sobriety you can count on
Zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol, with random drug and alcohol testing, so the whole house can trust the same standard. MAT (Suboxone, Vivitrol, Methadone) is supported with proper prescriber documentation.
Earning trust over time
New residents start with the most structure, including a stricter curfew in the first 30 days while they settle in. As you stay consistent, stay sober, and hit milestone dates, that structure loosens and you earn more independence.
It works because it's gradual and it's honest. The freedom is real, and so is the accountability behind it.
Marin House is a Level II sober living residence. We are not a licensed treatment center and do not provide clinical or medical behavioral-health services. Residents who need clinical care are connected with appropriate licensed providers.
