Who can live at Marin House?
Adults 18 and older who are committed to their recovery and have completed, or are actively engaged in, a primary treatment program such as detox, residential, PHP, or IOP, or are ready to begin outpatient services. Residents need to be able to live independently without 24-hour clinical supervision or medical detox.
How much does it cost?
Marin House operates on a self-pay basis (no insurance billing at this time). Costs typically include a one-time intake fee, a weekly program fee, and a refundable security deposit. Accepted payment methods are Zelle, cash, money order, and Venmo.
How long do residents stay?
Length of stay varies from person to person depending on where they are in their recovery. There's no fixed end date. Residents stay as long as it's helping, and earn more freedom over time.
What does the intake process look like?
Start by submitting an application on this site, or by calling us. We'll talk with you about your situation, confirm Marin House is a good fit, and walk you through the resident agreement and what to bring. Move-in details are arranged directly with you.
Is there drug and alcohol testing?
Yes. Marin House has a zero-tolerance policy, and residents submit to random and scheduled drug and alcohol testing. Refusing a test is treated the same as a positive result. This is what lets everyone in the house trust the same standard.
Can I have visitors?
Yes, within limits. Approved guests are welcome in the common areas during posted daytime hours. There are no overnight guests, and visitors need to be approved in advance. Residents are responsible for their guests while they're here.
Do I have to work?
We expect residents to stay actively engaged within their first month. That can mean full-time work, job searching, school, or an outpatient program. Staying busy and building routine is a big part of why sober living works.
Do you allow medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?
Yes. MAT medications such as Suboxone, Vivitrol, and Methadone are supported with proper prescriber documentation. All medications are disclosed at intake, and residents manage their own medication in a provided lockbox.
Is Marin House a treatment center?
No. Marin House is a Level II sober living residence, not a licensed treatment center, and we don't provide clinical or medical behavioral-health services. If you need clinical care, we'll help connect you with appropriate licensed providers.
Is the home faith-based?
Marin House is a Christian-based home, and residents are encouraged to work a 12-step program. Faith is welcome here, and so is anyone who is serious about their recovery.
